Town of Washington Classification Hearing The Town of Washington Board of Selectmen will hold a Classification Hearing at 7:30PM on September 28, 2020 at the Washington Town Hall, 8 Summit Hill, Washington, Ma. by zoom. The purpose of the Classification Hearing is to determine the percentage of the tax levy to be borne by each class of real and personal property according to a statutory allocation formula calculated by the Commissioner of Revenue (MGL Chapter 58 Section 1A) The formula establishes the limits within which a town may shift the tax burden from residential and open space to commercial, industrial and personal property.
