INVITATION FOR BIDS Sealed bids for furnishing the project will be received at the Town of Monterey, Massachusetts (435 Main Road, Monterey MA, 01245) until the time specified below at which time the proposals will be publicly opened and read. Bid: Sandisfield Road Culvert Replacement to be opened and read August 28, 2025 2 p.m. (Project includes the removal of the existing culvert, installation of the proposed 5' Reinforced Concrete Piped Culvert, any other associated work and all materials necessary to backfill, pave and complete work shown on the Contract Drawings.) All specifications concerning the Scope of Work for this project are shown on Drawings as prepared by Comprehensive Environmental, Inc., (a/k/a; CEI) and as specified or referenced herein. Bid documents are available electronically by emailing a request to mlundsted@ceiengineers.com. Bids will be opened in the Town Hall on August 28, 2025 2 p.m. Each Bid must be accompanied by a bid security consisting of a BID BOND, or, CERTIFIED CHECK issued by a responsible bank or trust company in the amount of 5% of the bid price. A Performance Bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the total amount of the bid, with a surety company qualified to do business in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, will be required for the faithful performance of the Contract, as well as a Labor and Materials Payment Bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the total amount of the bid. The Contractor is responsible for paying for these bonds. Cost of all bonds must be included in your bid price. This Contract is being Bid on under the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30, Section 39M , as amended and subject to all applicable bidding laws thereto. Attention is directed to the minimum wage rates to be paid as determined by the Commissioner of Labor and Industries and the weekly payroll record submittal requirements under the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 149, Section 26 through 27D inclusive. Contractor shall be responsible for obtaining any additional wage rates required for their bid. MassDOT prequalification of contractors with the class of work as, Bridge Culverts, for the project with an estimated value of $352,700 will be required. Selection of the contractor will be based upon bidder qualifications, including evidence of past performance in similar projects, and bid price. The contract will be awarded to the bidder deemed by the awarding authority to be the lowest responsible and eligible bidder. The Town of Monterey is an affirmative action/equal opportunity owner/purchaser.
