Town of Cheshire Invitation to Bid North State Road Arnold Drive to East View Drive Water Line Improvements May 2024 The Town of Cheshire, acting through its Board of Selectmen, invites sealed bids for water line replacement activities along a portion of North State Road in the Town of Cheshire. Project site is located on a portion of North State Road between Arnold Drive and East View Drive. The project shall include but not be limited to installation of 8-inch diameter ductile iron water line. Total length of trenching is approximately 2,700-feet. Bid prices shall include all equipment, labor, and material for a complete in place portion of water line per project documents. Contractors intending to bid on this project have a minimum of five years' experience in trenching and water line replacement, 8-inch diameter size piping or larger, and must have documented experience to the satisfaction of the Town of Cheshire designated representative. Specifications (PDF format and hard copy) are available from Berkshire Engineering, Inc., 80 Run Way, Lee, MA 01238, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (413-243-4122). Sealed bids shall be labeled, "Cheshire, MA, North State Road, Arnold Drive to East View Drive, Water Line Replacement - May 2024" and will be received by the Board of Selectmen at the Cheshire Town Hall, 80 Main Street, PO Box 647, Cheshire, MA 01225 until 10:00 a.m. on May 23rd, 2024. All bids will be opened and the total bid amount read aloud at this place and time. Office hours at the Town Hall are Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Town Hall is closed on Mondays and Fridays. Each bid shall be accompanied by a security or bond in the amount of 5% of the bid price. The successful bidder must furnish a 50% payment bond for the described work. No performance bid is required. No bidder may withdraw for a period of thirty (30) days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays after the opening date. Wage rates are subject to the minimum wage rate as per M.G.L. CH. 149 section 26 to 27F inclusive. The Minority Employee Percentage Rate to be applied to this project will be no less than 5% in each class.
