Invitation to Bid The Friends of the Lenox Meeting House, Inc., Lenox, Massachusetts, the Awarding Authority, request bids for the restoration of 33 windows, one rose window, two Palladian windows and one specialty window in the historic 1805 Meeting House, popularly known as "The Church on the Hill" and located at 169 Main Street in Lenox, MA. This building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The project is partially funded with a grant from the Massachusetts Preservation Projects Fund through the Massachusetts Historical Commission. All work must be performed in accordance with the documents prepared by Robert Harrison, Architect, at Berkshire Design Inc. 8 Bank Row, Pittsfield, MA 01201. (Telephone: (413) 448-8099) and meet the Secretary of the Interior's Standard for the Treatment of Historic Properties. State law prohibits discrimination. A copy of the bidding documents may be obtained by writing or telephoning the architect at the above address. Contractor should have successfully completed a minimum of three (3) projects within the last seven (7) years where the scope of work was comparable to the scope of work in this project. More specifically, all pertinent window repair projects must have involved buildings at least 50 years old and included the re-glazing and rehabilitation of existing traditional historic wood window sash (and preferably double-hung and single-glazed window sash). Pertinent projects should also include the successful removal of existing glass for re-glazing, the use of epoxy consolidation, and the in kind replacement or restoration of individual window elements such as window sills and sash elements such as side and bottom rails and sash muntin bars. A pre-bid meeting will be held at the Lenox Meeting House, known as "The Church on the Hill" at 169 Main Street, Lenox on Tuesday November 4th, 2025 at 10 a.m. Bids shall be evaluated based on price, previous experience with similar types of construction projects, ability to perform the work in a timely manner, and references. All bids must be delivered to the architect's office at the above address prior to Wednesday November 19th, 2025 at 12 p.m. to be eligible for consideration and all of the grant-funded work must be completed by June 10, 2026.
